DTS VOTERS CAN NOW MAKE NM HISTORY!

For the first time in New Mexico history, registered Independents—and voters who have “Declined to State (DTS)” a party affiliation—can vote in this year’s primary election without changing their voter registration. Last year, Senate Bill 16 was enacted, allowing independent and unaffiliated voters to cast ballots in primary elections for the first time in New Mexico history.

Make your plan to get out to vote today!

Primary election dates:

  • May 5 - Early voting at county clerk offices

  • May 16 - May 30 - Expanded early voting

  • June 2 - Election day

Check your voter registration here before you go!

Early voting locations can be found here or you can contact your county clerk for locations, dates, and hours.

*Please note: Voters registered with a minor party (i.e. Green Party, Libertarian) can still participate in the June 2nd primary election. Just head down to any polling location and use the Same Day Registration (SDR) option to update your voter registration temporarily to the major party in whose primary you would like to vote. After that, if you want to update your voter registration to reflect your previous affiliation, you can go to NMvote.org whenever it’s convenient for you!
