New Mexico House Democratic Campaign Committee

Election Alert for DTS/Independent Voters

For the first time in New Mexico history, voters registered with the Decline to State* affiliation can vote in this year’s June 2 primary election without changing their voter registration.

Change starts here.

In 2016 New Mexico House Democrats took back the House from Republican control. In 2018 House Democrats expanded our majority, resulting in the most diverse caucus in New Mexico’s history, the first women-majority caucus in our state legislature, and some of the most productive legislative sessions in our history. These wins, and the shift in New Mexico politics that followed, took a coordinated strategy, effective and efficient resource allocation, and the hard work and investment of supporters and activists from around the state.

On economic development, public safety, health care, education, workers’ rights, racial justice, and the fight against climate change – House Democrats are making historic progress on the urgent issues of our time.

Now more than ever, we need solid and moral leadership in state government. We know we can't turn away from intelligent, dynamic policy change to overcome the issues facing our state, country, and planet. Our members are working on policies that put all New Mexicans first.

The stakes of the 2026 election could not be higher. We have enormous challenges to overcome, and we cannot turn back the clock on the progress we have made together. That’s why we will be fighting from now until Election Day to keep New Mexico blue and to elect Democratic champions to the State House.

Together, we can ensure a Democratic victory in 2026.
